  • How do I find out what grade of glass I have regarding insulation glass ?
    • The easiest way is, to search for a brand product stamp on the silver spacer in the insulalation glass unit. If you can see terms like Thermo, Plus, k-plus or the figures 1.1, 1.6, 1.8 or 2.0 on it, then you have heat protection insulation glass. The sun protection film has to be attached on the outside. Another way to find out is, in the evening when it is dark, hold a lighter about 10cm away from the glass surface. If one of the 4 reflecting flames show another colour than the other 3 flames you know you have heat protection insulation glass which has to be bonded from outside. That is, by the way, a very secure and fast method

  • How do I determine the pre cut size of my window film?
    • You simply measure from rubber to rubber and deduct 5mm in height and width from the measured size, with it a circumferential edge of about 2.5 mm emerges. This method makes it substantial easier to attach the film and you dont have to cut on the glass.

  • Will glass decor films made to my measure be cut off?
    • No. All ordered glass decor films are scaled to the ordered size so that the design remain unchanged. Should scaling be impossible we will submit a galley proof indicating the changed design per e-mail to you.

  • Can I apply privacy film inside glass showers?
    • Absolutely yes. These concealed protection films made by ASLAN are high performance films. Water does not harm them. The service life for the external area is stated from 5 to 7 years; outside they are exposed to water, sun, wind and environmental conditions. It can be rather assumed, since most of the above mentioned influences do not appear in the interior, that the service life of these privacy film is substantially longer as indicated by the manufacturer.

  • Which file format is required for PhotoCut films?
    • Please only send us *.gif and *.jpeg. formats per e-mail. The resolution should not be smaller than 800 x 800 pixel. It is important that the templates sent are photos with depth; in the PhotoCut technique two-dimensional pictures would be unfavourable. Please send your files to IFOHA-Contact. This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . (p.s. to due security reasons zipped files will not be opened)<

  • How do I determine the size of sun protection blinds?
    • In principle that's quite easy. Imagine that you had to screw a flake board on a frame. Along the periphery, the same gap to the edge of the casement or the blind frame shall remain... Please see to it that the slide rails on the left and the right do have an overlay on the frame of at least 2cm. If choosing a bigger measure, attention has to be paid in regards to the edge of glass strip/frame to the window handle (only applies to window casements); choose the same gap on the opposite side, so that the blind will still be centered on the frame afterwards. The blind's height is to be determined in the same manner. Please refer to our article description in the online shop.

  • The film does not stick and fell off the window !?
    • In this case you did not detach the protection film. All sun protection films from IFOHA are self adhesive and have to be attached wet. Please read our tinting instructiction or watch our video tinting instruction providing you with all necessary information.

  • White cords and stains after the bonding. Did I make a mistake?
    • No. On some of the self adhesive windows the adhesive bonding layer consits of environmental friendly glue. Meaning, this glue is water soluble and gets milky easily when bonded wet. These discoulorations disappear after some time until the remaining residual moisture has dried. The drying period depends on climate conditions and on how the water had been 'squeegeed' during the film's application. Therefore it can possibly take some days until discolouration disappears. But still, no reason to be worried. You did everything right.

  • I have no concealed protection with the spy mirror film at nights ?!<
    • That is right, since concealed protection will be achieved through a reflecting surface on the sun protection film's outside. Naturally, mirror reflection works only during the day; light can't be reflected at nights, unless you provide artificial back light such as spot lights or reflectors (street lighting and shop window advertising would often do too).

  • Can I bond PET sun protection films on plastic?
    • No. Other than plastic glass, PET films have a different expansion coefficient; e.g. twin-wall sheets. The films would tear, undercut from water and dirt and after some time they would, flake by flake, bid farewell. For the installation of sun protection films on plastic surfaces we recommend our polycarbonate sun protection films, available in clear transparent/metallised and nontransparent/silver.

  • Are self adhesive films multiple usable?
    • No. As soon as they are bonded a removal from the glass surface would result in damage of the film.

  • Are window films totally removable ?
    • Yes, for this purpose you heat the film with a blow dryer and pull it off slowly, starting from one corner. It is quite important that you really pull the film off slowly in order that most of the glue remains on the film and not on the glass. Film residues on the glass surface are easy to remove by using our cleaning concentrate and the glass scraper. The concentrate can be found in our shop under category 'fittings'. The labour input for 1sqm pasted surface is about 5 to 10 minutes. A further option is, to spray the sun protection film with our cleaning concentrate and to cover it over night with a simple, conventional hardwore store tarpaulin. The concentrate diffuses through the film on to the bonded side and unglues the adhesive. Should the desired effect had not occured after one night so please repeat this procedure.

  • How many degrees will the temperature drop by using a sun protection film?
    • Normally, temperature drops between 4°C and 7°C according to the type of film and the insulation of the units like brick work, window frame material and the ceilings. It is to mention that a dark tinted and strong metallised sun protection film cools down more than a sun protection film which is barely tinted and metallised. The indicated value 'shielding in %' within the respective article descriptions designate the degree of shielding. As higher the value the better the cooling.

  • What is the difference between cold protection film and annual fil
    • Unlike the annual film, the cold protection film has a better insulation against heat loss. In return, the annual film has better shielding against sun rays.

  • Do you have sun protection films for twin-wall sheets (plastic glass) ?
    • Yes. Optional we offer two different types of films: the combination clear/metallised and silver/nontransparent. Details see under link 'Sun Protection Films for plexiglass'.

  • Can I applicate an inside film outside?
    • You can.... but it does not make any sense. The desired shielding from sun rays does not take place since, in this case, the reflection is on the wrong side.

  • Will my indoor plants still grow behind sun protection and UV protection film ?
    • Yes. However, they do not grow as fast but they also won't die.

  • Can I applicate Solara30/40 externally ?
    • No, you would then have a noneffective sun protection film! These two sun protection films are licensed for all kind of glass as interior film, including insulation glass with a k-value higher than 3.0 W/m²K (heat insulation glass).

  • Can I applicate Diamant-Solara externally ?
    • No, you should not do that! The wind would 'blow off' the film at the first opportunity.

  • What is the difference between SolaraOV40 and Solara Smart ?
    • The sun protection blind Solara Smart has a roller blind cassette in the size of 33 x 33 mm, the edges of the cassette and the slide rails are square-edged. However, the sun protection blind SolaraOV40 has a roller blind cassette in the size of 45 x 45 mm, the edges of this cassette and the slide rails are rounded. The price for each of the systems is the same. We also offer Solara OV40 with silver laminated drapery.

  • The sqm price for the sun protection blind OV40 and Smart is incorrect...?
    • This sqm/rm price depends on the sizes, meaning that the sqm price for a 2 sqm blind is lower than for a blind in the size of 1 sqm. This spreadsheet calculation can not be avoided by a unit sqm price, since the required labour time for finishing a blind is always the same. Merely the value added tax changes.

  • What is a dynamic point loading and what is a distribution load ?
    • This is easy to explain. A dynamic point loading is for example a shot with a football or a stone throw. Distribution load occurs when a person leans against a wall. The wall material doesn't matter. In regards to security films one should ask the questions 'which risks are predictable and how are they calculated?' and subsequently determine, whether the film 115, 190 or 400my shall be used.

  • Can I place an order per telephone ?
    • Unfortunately this is not possible due to missing documentation. That is why we kindly ask you to place your order online; to a large extent, misunderstandings can be avoided.
